Share of apprenticeship starts that are under 19 years old

Young people under the age of 19 are more likely to participate in an apprenticeship outside of London and the South East.

In 2018/19, the local authorities where under 19s made up the greatest share of all apprentices in the area include Eden, Ribble Valley, Rochford, Allerdale and Copeland where two in five apprentices were under 19 years old. By contrast, in wealthier London authorities just six in every 100 apprentices were under 19 in Kensington, nine in every 100 in Wandsworth and 11 out of every 100 in Westminster.
