The Government has targeted 600,000 heat pump sales per year by 2028, and the Climate Change Committee’s Balanced Pathway in the Sixth Carbon Budget requires sales to hit 1 million per year by 2030. However, on the current trajectory, the 600,000 target will not be hit until 2057 which is almost three decades too late.
The rollout of heat pumps is woefully off-track compared to targets set by the Government and the Climate Change Committee.
