Direct government funding and tax support for business R&D

The cost of the UK’s R&D tax incentives is the largest of comparable countries at 0.33% of GDP with France in second place with 0.28%. The OECD average is 0.12%.  Most other countries spend proportionally more on direct support for businesses and less on tax reliefs than the UK.
