Events and Communications Assistant
Onward is recruiting for an Events and Communications Assistant. This is a role with significant opportunity for political impact and innovation. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising speeches by senior ministers and business leaders, building and maintaining relationships with MPs, peers, donors, journalists and business leaders, as well as supporting the communication of Onward’s research. The role will involve a high level of organisation and planning skills, thinking creatively, and excellent people skills.
The successful candidate should have 1-3 years experience supporting high calibre events in a comparable organisation, and doing so to the highest standard. They should be comfortable working with corporates, government departments and well known figures, as well as interested in developing new and innovative ways of engaging new audiences and using new technologies. They should have a good working knowledge of delivering events digitally.
The successful candidate would be joining Onward at an important time for the organisation and the country. Having launched almost three years ago, we have quickly established a reputation for rigorous research that gets traction not only in newspapers but in government policy. We pride ourselves on developing policy ideas that are timely, practical to deliver and politically possible.
- Plan, manage and oversee the delivery of events, including private roundtables, public panel events and full-day conferences, on a regular basis and to a high standard. It is essential that you can manage multiple events concurrently and work constructively with partners to strict deadlines.
- Experience and a proven track record of digital campaigning, social media management and graphic design.
- Working with the Director and Head of External Relations, you will help support Onward’s network of financial supporters, large and small, whose generosity supports our research and policy work.
