Cities with purpose

What levelling up means for cities to drive economic growth?

The Government has committed to Levelling Up. Now, in the wake of the pandemic and financial instability, it is more important than ever that the Government delivers on its ambitions. But what role do our major cities have to play? Cities have been our productivity engines – serving as hubs for investment, developing skills and job opportunities.  As the UK now turns its attention to ensuring that no place is left behind, understanding the role major cities will play in the levelling up agenda is fundamental to ensuring long term regional success.

This panel event will explore the UK’s Levelling Up ambitions and the role that major cities can have in spearheading the development of left-behind communities. This will also be a chance to consider the future of the professional services industry across the UK and how initiatives, such as the Business Improvement Districts, can bring investment to areas most in need. The event will also address the role that cities can play in boosting communities, and ensure the levelling up agenda adds value rather than taking away.
