Digital connectivity might be the key to Levelling Up. Increasing connectivity could link remote communities to opportunity. 5G infrastructure can unlock innovation and boost productivity. And the rollout of full fibre could support a more distributed and flexible workforce across Britain’s towns. But realising these benefits means modernising the UK’s digital infrastructure, rolling out new projects in remote areas and boosting coverage in our towns and cities.
Infrastructure alone won’t be enough to realise the benefits of connectivity. We need world class digital skills to support applications of big data and AI. We need basic digital literacy so that citizens and consumers can benefit. And we need businesses to adopt digital technologies in every part of their processes so they increase their efficiency and compete internationally.
