The life sciences sector has been pushed into the spotlight as the world continues to face the greatest public health crisis in over a century. The UK is a top 3 global hub for life sciences – the number 1 recipient for foreign direct investment in Europe and employs over 250,000 people across the UK, having increased by over 20,000 since 2010. Part of the life sciences success to date has been the healthy partnerships across industry, academia, and government. The collaboration between Oxford University who came up with the vaccine concept and AstraZeneca who brought manufacturing scale to the process, is the most recent success story.
