Skills and Sustainability: How better regulation can fix the UK’s built environment

Debates around housing and the built environment are becoming one of the major political battlegrounds ahead of the next General Election. Both parties are rushing to identify ways of addressing the key challenges facing the industry, including skills shortages, rising costs and legislative requirements.

The construction industry has the answers to many of these challenges, but the regulatory environment is currently hampering the sector’s ability to meet its sustainability and Net Zero targets. Although the Labour Party are increasingly branding themselves as the ‘party of builders’, it is imperative the construction industry’s voice is heard within policy debates on the future of the sector.

This panel event will discuss how the Labour Party can leverage better regulation to unlock the construction industry’s ability to improve the built environment of communities across the UK.
