Net Zero Researcher, Onward
Onward is looking for an exceptional candidate to join as a Researcher to work on our upcoming Getting to zero research programme, which will bring together a leading cross party group of experts together to explore practical and politically saleable policies to deliver decarbonisation.
The successful candidate will need at least two years’ experience writing high quality research, preferably in energy and environmental policy, and be able to demonstrate an ability to conduct eye-catching and novel data research in a policy context. They must also be comfortable engaging with and contributing to public policy debates, including through the media, policy events and meetings with MPs and civil servants.
The successful candidate would be joining Onward at an important time for the organisation and the Net Zero debate ahead of COP26 next year. Having launched two years ago, we have quickly established a reputation for rigorous research that gets traction not only in newspapers but in government policy. We pride ourselves on developing policy ideas that are timely, practical to deliver and politically possible.
- Conduct high quality research on energy and environmental policy, including both quantitative analysis including R or Stata and written report writing.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at the highest levels of government, the media, industry and among the policy community.
- Plan and deliver Onward events, including roundtables, panels, and policy workshops.
- Produce regular articles for newspapers, websites and other outlets, in your own name or those of others.
Salary: £25,000-£30,000 p.a.
Working pattern: 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, working mostly from home during the crisis and our Westminster office when safe to do so.
Start Date: January 2021.
