Bill was elected as the Member of Parliament for Selton Central in May 2010 and was appointed Shadow Minister for Business and Industrial Strategy in December 2021. During his time as an MP, he has held a variety of roles, including Shadow Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills between September 2015 and June 2016, Shadow Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy between July 2016 and April 2020, and Shadow Minister for International Trade, between October 2016 and December 2021.
