Times Red Box

Gareth Davies MP writes for Times Red Box about how to scale social investment in the UK, following his paper for Onward on the same subject. He writes:

“Put simply, in order to truly mobilise private investment, the [social investment] sector needs to be defined as much by its potential to generate returns as its social outcomes. This has precluded the biggest institutional and mainstream investors that require a certain level of return from participating, no matter how worthwhile the social outcomes achieved.”
